The Simple Things

Have you ever taken a step back from your life and realized just how off track things have gotten with your priorities?
My 13 year old daughter and I went to Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago. One of our stops was a Deer Park. Among seeing other animals there, we had the delight of walking through this park with over 100 tame deer. This picture is of my daughter with two of the deer who followed her along most of the path once they figured out she had food:).
As we mingled with the deer, she told me it was the best day of her life so far. At 13, feeding deer was the best day of her life. A simple, inexpensive activity meant so much to her and it wasn't even located at Ridgedale or the Mall of America (her previous favorite locations). The best part was that I got to spend it with her. It was the highlight of my week, my month, my year...
It is easy to find pleasure in the simple things in life if we take the time to look for them. They are hidden in the most unexpected, fantastic places. Don't wait another minute - seize the day and fill it with things that make you smile, things that make you laugh, memories that last a life time.

Quote for the Day - Abundance

Let not your mind run on what you lack as much as on what you have already. Of the things you have, select the best; and then reflect how eagerly they would have been sought if you did not have them.

Quote for the Day - Accountability

Many people are held back by their lack of understanding of what true discipline takes and what real freedom it gives. True discipline takes heightened awareness and self mastery.

How Can You Tell If You Are In Victim Mentality?

Having a victim mentality robs you of your sense of personal power. Are you living in Victimville? Take this quiz to find out.

1. My first response to a setback is to blame another for what’s happened.
2. No matter what I do, things are not really going to change for me.
3. I often find myself beginning thoughts with phrases like “I cant….”I’m no good at …. I’ve never been able to…..
4. When angry, I rarely begin sentences with "I".
5. Conversations with others are often about how hard things are.
6. When I meet a person on the street that I haven’t seen in a while and they ask me how I am, I say, “I’m fine” and then start telling them all the things that are wrong in my life.
7. I must have done something really horrible in a past life because nothing ever works for me.
8. When friends offer advice, I usually counter it with a “Yes, but….”
9. No one really understands me or knows how challenging my life really is.
10. I’m always so busy with work and things I need to do that I don’t have time to do the things I want to do.

Living with a victim mentality usually keeps us stuck in old patters and can be an externalized way of dealing with anger or fear of change that you haven't dealt with. If you answered True to some of the statements above, you may want to explore this further so as to not limit your life and your happiness.

Our Uniqueness - Quote of the Day

I do my thing, and you do your thing. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you, and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful.
